It seems like Representative Sensenbrenner was able to distract the Democrats by focusing on illegal immigrants so that the Democratis didn't realize what else was in the bill. Though the media has portrayed the final intelligence bill as a near-total loss for House conservatives, the supposedly defeated lawmakers know better. And though he didn’t get some of the border security measures he strongly supported, Mr. Sensenbrenner’s overall record would suggest that the Democrats only managed to throw him in the briar patch.
